Genetic epidemiology of epilepsy. Chromosomal localization and identification of epilepsy genes; explanation of the maternal effect in epilepsy; studies of reproduction and teratogenesis in epilepsy.
Patients with non-symptomatic (i.e., idiopathic or cryptogenic) epilepsy with onset prior to age 25 (any syndrome), who have at least one living relative with non-symptomatic epilepsy with onset prior to age 25.
Patients are not eligible if they have only one affected parent or offspring (one affected sibling or multiple affected relatives okay).
