INTRANASAL CLONAZEPAM

Purpose: To find out if intranasal clonazepam is effective in treating frequent seizures.

Inclusion criteria: Age 18-65, at least 7 seizures per week, has failed at least 2 antiepileptic drugs, does not use rescue meds more than 2 times per week, not taking clonazepam (Klonopin)

Study participation includes a screening appointment where a medical history is taken, blood is drawn, and an EKG and physical exam are performed. Subjects are then admitted to the hospital for 2 to 7 days depending on the frequency of their seizures. Clonazepam is administered intranasally after the subject has a second seizure during the hospital admission. EKGs and blood draws are done frequently throughout the hospital stay.
