ESZOPICLONE FOR INSOMNIA IN EPILEPSY



Purpose:

To find out if using eszopiclone in people with epilepsy and insomnia can improve sleep.

Inclusion criteria:

Age 18-64, complaint of insomnia without other definite sleep disorders, taking no more than two epilepsy drugs, fewer than one seizure per 3 month period

Study participation lasts for 12 weeks and involves a physical exam, completing questionnaires, keeping sleep logs and seizure diaries, and 4 overnight stays in the sleep laboratory. This is a double-blind crossover study and subjects will take both eszopiclone and a placebo.
